Coin and Paper Money Collecting/value of deutsches reich

Question
Can you estimate the value of a 1915 deutsches reich 1/2 mark?

Answer
Hi Erika,
This is a fairly common date. As such there is some value in mint condition coins with original shiny luster. They list in catalogs for around $10 each, but typically sell at auction for around $5 due to being plentiful on the markets. There are some different mint marks. If you looks below the eagle's tail, there will be a small letter there. If you coin has a G or J mint, it would sell for a little more in mint condition, $8 to $10. Used coins are only worth a couple of dollars.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
