Question
I have a prussian coin that says WILHELM II DEUTSCHER KAISER KONIG V. PREUSSEN on the front side and DEUTSCHES REICH 1899 FUNF MARK on the back.  It has mild wear. I was wondering if you could tell me what it might be worth. Thanks.

Answer

Hi Heidi,
A picture would have really been helpful. These coins are not common, and condition is extremely important. depending on your definition of what exactly "mild wear" is, it can be anywhere from $25 to $100+.
For reference, the example in the photo is of the same type. One of the date you have in the same condition would be in the high end of that range. Any more wear, and the value would be $25 to $40.
If you need any more info regarding this coin, feel free to post a follow-up question.
Thanks! =)

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
