Question
I have a 1914 German note. I received it in a box left from my grandfather when he passed. The printed value is 1 Mark and appears to be printed in Berlin. I was just wondering what this would be worth today. Thanks a lot, Fred.

Answer
Hi Fred, Collector value of a note depends on date, series letter or signature and condition, including amount of wear, any folds, tears or stains as well as collector demand.
There were 3 types issued of the 1914 1 Mark notes: red serial number and seal with green back (1914); red serial number and seal with green back and light brown pattern over entire note (1917); blue serial number and seal (1920). All may be worth about $1 with heavy wear to around $2.50 with moderate wear to maybe $4 with no wear (uncirculated).
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
