Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1950 Saudi Gold Guinea

Question
I received a 1950 Guinea as a tip from an Arabic women. I was wondering what the approximate value of the coin would be.  It is in very good condition, it is a little worn on both sides in the center ring. All details are still visible. I tried to take a few pictures of the coin, but I am unable to get a clear picture of it. Any and all help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Joseph,
Considering that the coin has wear, it would sell for it's gold bullion value. The coin contains .23 ounces of pure gold, which is right around $250 on the current market. Gold is at historic highs and it would have been worth less than half of that just a couple of years ago. Coins in mint condition sell for around $300 to $350.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
