Question
Hi, I found a 1959 coin with Elizabeth II Regina on front and a beautiful ship on back. It has 1/2.D on the bottom. It is in very good condition and I am amazed at the detail of the ship. Any history on this coin or its worth? Thank you in advance, Shirley

Answer
Hi Shirley, There were 2.4 million of these bronze South African half pennies minted that year featuring British Queen Elizabeth II (1952-) and Jan van Riebeeck's flagship, the Dromedaris.

Collector value may be worth about .10 with heavy wear to around .25 with moderate wear to maybe .75 with light wear to perhaps $2 if uncirculated (no wear).
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
