Question
IHAVE A 1792 COIN WITH CAROL 1111.D.C.  HISP.E.T IND-R ON THE FRONT AND USPICE.DEO     IN.UTRO.FELIX ON THE BACK AND 8 S ON EACH SIDE OF THE SHIELD.  WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE IS IS FROM AND APPROIMATE VALUE.

Answer
Hi Richard,
The coin you described is a Spanish colonial gold 8 escudos. These were minted in Madrid, Spain, Mexico City and colonial cities, such as Lima (Peru), Santiago (Chile)and Potosi (Bolivia). There will be a mint mark just to the lower right of "IN" in the legend "IN.UTRO.FELIX"
The ones from the colonies are a bit more valuable, but generally a decent example is in the $1,500 to $2,500 range depending on the mint mark.
If you wish to post a follow-up question and either describe the mint mark, or attach a photo, I can give you much more specific information on value.
ALso worth noting, there are many many counterfeits out there. To be sure you have a genuine gold coin it will need to be checked by a jeweler, or you can weigh it on a digital scale. The real thing should be right around 27 grams.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
