Question
Hi Brad! It's me again,  I have found tons of coins and I would like to ask the value of one coin I've found. It has a picture of a lady in front and it seems that she is striking an anvil and it says "FIFTY CENTAVOS FILIPINAS" and on the back it has a pic of a bird on top of what seems like to be a seal and it says "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1944"... thank you and I am hoping for your reply. It is silver and round

Answer
Hi Paz, There were 19.2 million of these Philippines 50c coins minted in San Francisco (S) that year during WWII. The Philippines were a U.S. possession 1898-1946. This coin should weigh 10.0 grams and would contain .2411 of an ounce of silver. Collector value may be worth up to about $5 depending on amount of wear and collector demand.
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
