Question
I have always been fascinated with coins. I have begun collecting coins by sifting through my change etc. I want to learn more about what to look for. I know that there are many books about coin collecting. Do you have any suggestions where I should begin. I have a small collection of coins that was left to me with no intention to sell. I have read much on this subject but it seems overwhelming at times. Any suggestions..Maybe coin collecting for beginners(idiots) LOL.

Answer
Start with the Guidebook to US Coins by R.S. Yeoman. This is known as the REDBOOK.  Also you can either subscribe to COINWORLD or pick up a copy at a large newsstand or bookstore to brings in periodicals.  This is a weekly publication.

My advice to all new collectors is to buy the book before you buy any coins.  It will save you money in the long run and help you avoid mistakes.  You must learn how to grade coins so maybe a copy of PhotoGrade would be a wise purchase.
