Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Leopold II Coin

Question
Hello Dmitry,

I was given a box containing coins from roughly a dozen countries. Through the Blackbook on World Coins, and online research, I have been able to identify the country of origin of most of the coins. I came across one that has stomped me. On the obverse is Leopold II ROI Des Belges, which lead me to believe it is from Belgium. But the the reverse is where I am running in to difficulty. There is no date, but I can clearly make out a 0 (zero) to the left of the shield. The coin is silver, and roughly 2 mm in diameter. I looked at both Centimes and Francs, and nothing seems to match. Is it possible that is coinage of another colony? I can send and image if you need one. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer
Hi Tony,
This sounds like it may possibly be from the Beligian Congo colony, which would make it a fairly scarce coin.
I am afraid that just by the description I am unable to tell you what the coin is or it's value. Please do post a follow-up question with a clear photo and I will certainly assist you to the best of my abilities.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
