Coin and Paper Money Collecting/SILVER ROUND

Question
I have two silver rounds as follows:
Side 1:  Kangaroo in the middle SOCONFINANCE SA below round bottom.

There are no markings around the edges

SIDE 2: Around the top it states one troy ounce

In the centre it states 999 with Fine Silver written underneath.
Below the fine silver on the bottom there is a small mark like three small blobs (sorry this description is not good but we cannot make out what it is).

Looking forward to hearing your reply if possible. Thank you
Ruth

Answer
Hi Ruth,
First of all let me apologize that you had to wait so long for an answer. The expert you originally posed this question to had sent it to our "question pool" and I have picked it up.
Your coins are silver bullion rounds made for the Socofinance firm, based in Geneva, Switzerland.
These are actually investment quality, rather than art rounds, meant for investors who sought to buy silver from this firm. As such they are typically offered at a premium over the base silver value. I would expect to see your rounds, in a retail setting, for $20 to $25 each at the current market rates for silver.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
