Question
HI Brad
I have a 1652-1952 South African Georgivs Sextvs Rex coin. It is very good condition. I just want to know the worth of this coin and how to go about selling the prescribed coin.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Carla, There were 1.7 million of these British South Africa 5 Shillings coins minted that year to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of Capetown. It features British King George VI (1936-52) and founder Jan Van Riebeeck's ship the Dromedaris.
This coin should weigh 28.28 grams and would contain .4546 of an ounce of silver.
Current gold and silver values: http://www.kitco.com/market/ .
Collector value may be worth about $8 with heavy wear to around $9 with moderate wear to maybe $10 with light wear to perhaps $12+ if uncirculated (no wear).
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison and as a place to offer it for sale.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
