Question
I am in possession of two $20 dollar gold pieces, one is dated 1925 and one is dated 1927. Both have a lady on the front with the word liberty on them and the back side has an eagle flying through sun rays.  I also have a 1926 2 ½ dollar gold Indian head coin and a $5.00 gold Indian head coin dating 1905-D. Could you give me some idea what these coins might be valued at?  Thank You, in advance.

Answer
Hi Chris, Collector value of a coin depends on denomination (face value), date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
You can find U.S. coin prices for professionally graded coins here: http://www.pcgs.com/prices/
and ungraded coins: http://www.bestcoin.com/united-states-coin-pricing-guide.htm .
Ungraded coins (raw) are worth less depending on amount of wear and collector demand.
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Guidebook of United States Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
