Coin and Paper Money Collecting/netherlands 25 cent coin

Question
I have a 1950's 25 cent coin that has 'JULIANA KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN' on the front with the queens' profile. On the back is just a crown, the date, and value.

I was wondering: is it worth any more then face value, or not?

Answer
Hi Emily,
These coins are just beginning to become collectible, so they do have value in top conditions. A mint condition example with the shiny luster still intact is worth around $5, one with minimal signs of use is a dollar or two. Anything more used than that does not really have value.
Also worth noting, the 1954 year is a better one and goes up to $10 in mint condition.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
