Question

ONE PENNY
I tried to find this coin in history of all nations that use the penny and i couldn't find anything on it. I doubt its U.S. but i truly have no idea. The back is completely worn down, but i can see a P on there and its big so i know that its probably part of it saying one penny. (Not a place where it was made.) Thanks for you help -Troy

Answer
Troy,

What you have is actually a Masonic token.  These were privately minted given to members of the Masons.  I can't tell you when or where in the U.S. this was made, but those symbols on it definitely identify it as a Masonic penny.

If you do a search on eBay for masonic penny, you will find lots.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
