Question
I saw where you commented on this coin and its value.  I just discovered one that my father gave me.  Could you please comment on its value?  Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi John,

The 1853 $.250 gold piece is a common date in the series.  Depending upon the condition, it could be worth just it's gold value which today is about $80.  However, if it is in mint condition, the value would be a minimum of $300 but can rise from there for gem specimens
