Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1870 Spanish 10 peseta
Expert: PAPAJACK - 2/6/2009
QuestionIs this a gold coin? I picked up three in an antiques shop in Scotland with two British sovereigns. Also have they any value above the spot gold price or just the usual premium above the spot price. They are in excellent condition with hardly any wear.
Thanks
AnswerHello Alasdair,
I cannot answer accurately for this foreign coin. They are not my field.
I am not an expert on foreign coins Only on USA Coins and I do not have much information on them. I did not find any reference to a "10 Peseta " spanish coin. Can you give me more of a description?
The list for all foreign coins can be found in "The Standard Catalog of World Coins".
Since the catalog pictures so many different coins the catalog does not over-elaborate on each item. But it does have a world of information in general on all officially issued world coins.
The catalog may be available at your library reference section and certainly at a coin shop. If it is a medal or token or other commemorative piece and not a coin you may need more help.
If you do want a dealer to look at the piece for you, feel free to write me back. And give me the nearest large Cities, some postal zip codes. Please mark the question as private.
I will refer you to an expert in your area.
Thank You and Good Luck,
PapaJack
