Question

1969 D kennedy Half Do
Hi Dan;

  I have a 1966 D Kennedy Half Dollar that is missing the
"A" in States and would like to know if it is a miss-stamp.
I have enclosed photos of this coin. There are no markings
to indicate it was tampered with that I can see. I can send
you the rest of the photos for this coin if you need them.

This error is usually caused by a foreign substance (like machine grease) that got into the die and preventing the complete flow of the metal from the coin blank into the die.  This causes the missing details.

Collector interest in this is low -- value at maybe a dollar over the silver value.
