Question

$20 gold Double Eagle
Hi, I have had a $20 Double Gold eagle for 30 years tucked away in my desk. I am looking for the "mint Mark" and some info on Coins from 1904. Can you help? Thank you

Answer
There is no mint mark, so the coin was made in Philadelphia. If there were one, it would be a tiny "S" under the eagles tail feather, for San Francisco. Some times it matters where the coin was made, but in this particular case both the 1904 Double Eagles are common in all grades through Gem Brillant Uncirculated, as many were saved, each with a mintage of about 5M or 6M, if I recall.
