Question
We found a set of the Gorham Mint 13 colonies coins and are wondering what you think this would be worth.  It is in the original case and have the paperwork to back it.  They are asking 180.00.  We have never seen these before and know they only made 5000 of them.   - thanks for your advice

Answer
Hello Lynn,

Although there were only 5000 sets issued you would really have to like the artwork on the pieces to pay a lot for the collection.

Basically they are one ounce silver rounds. These art bars and rounds are considered bullion to most dealers. And there for dealt for the price of bullion on the spot market. Today it is around $13 per ounce. So there is around $169 in silver value. The amount you choose to pay above this is up to you.

These are not coins but a collectable dreamed up for the Bicentennial calibration in 1976.

Thank you for the question. Feel free to write me again with any questions on USA Coins.

Good Luck,
