Question
i purchased this coin thru Sears in 2000. (American Historic Society) Its called an American Eagle Millennium
Half pound proof. .999 Fine Silver Icant seem to find a value for it anywhere. Can you help me. Thanks, Andy

Answer
Hello Andy,

I have not seen the item you describe but it is not a coin. Coins have to be issued by a government and have a denomination on them.

It should have a certificate of authenticity from the manufacturer stating the purity and other information to look it up.  Most of these are merely silver bullion and since they are not issued by a government is only valued by weight to coin dealers.

So from the description you would have a HALF POUND TROY or 6 ounces of .999 pure Silver. Today silver varied from $13.75 to $14.26 per ounce so you have about $90 in metal value. Most dealers would pay around this price.

Your item may be worth more as a collectable sold at a retail level to a collector. Depending on how many are still available for sale and the customer demand for this novelty item but still less than $200 at this time is my guess.

I hope this information Helps.

If there any more information you require on this question just ask.

Thank You and Good Luck
