Coin and Paper Money Collecting/certified coin dealers

Question
I am located in Ohio and was wondering how you would become a license coin dealer as a business.  I have been searching the internet and can't find any information. I noticed when I went to the US Mint that dealers could purchase items at a lower price. Thank you, bob

Answer
There is no special state or Federal license required to become a professional Numismatist or Coin Dealer, and I've been both for almost forty-one years. I don't know what you saw that would make you think any one calling themselves a coin dealer can buy more cheaply than you across the counter at the mint. To my knowledge, there are probably only four or five coin dealers that buy wholesale directly from the US Mint, and that is because you have to pay in advance, and the minimum order is a million dollars.
