Coin and Paper Money Collecting/$10 real or fake

Question
My son has a 1934 ten dollar bill that seems "different". It has dark ink, paper not quite the same, adn we thought it was counterfeit but if so they did a lousy job by NOT putting "In God We Trust" on the back. Serial number is C09024834A. Could it just be old and a misprint? I can send you pictures if you think that would help! Many thanks, Jo

Answer
Jo,

I have to believe it to be real.  The ink used back then was slightly different color than more modern notes.  And the "In God We Trust" was not added to our notes until the 1950's.

The collector value for your note is not great -- perhaps about $12.00 -- because there are so many available out there for collectors.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
