Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1943 copper penny

Question
what is the value of this coin

Answer
Lucy, if it is genuine, it would be worth many thousands. This is because there are very few of them out there. Check it with a magnet to see if it attracts (if yes, it is a colored steel cent, normal for the 1943 date) and also look at the date carefully to see if it has been altered (compare to a real 1943 even if steel cent to see how the date should look -- if you don't have one, look at a picture of one at www.ebay.com, doing a search for 1943 cent).  If yours still appears to be genuine, take it to a coin expert.  Jim Lawniczak
