Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1969 Aluminum/Silver Penny

Question
I noticed that you had a previous question on a 1969 silver colored aluminum penny minted in Denver.  I just came across one and wondered if anything had been verified.  Location: Maryland

The penny is very light in weight and rough in the detail, but the detail of the strike is there; front and back.

Have you received any information since the original question?

Answer
Hello Mel,

There were no new records on file showing any experimental metal in the striking of one cent coins in 1969.
Do you know how much it weighs?
This is likely an altered cent!
I can only send you to your nearest coin dealer for evaluation of the piece.  It must be seen to be judged a picture would not help.

If you write back with the general location (nearest large cities) and telephone area code or codes and some zip codes in your area, I can direct you to an AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION MEMBER/DEALER near there. They are ethical and trustworthy.

I hope this information is helpful.

Feel free to ask another question about US Coins.

Good Luck,

PapaJack
