Question
I have the above in a small sterling dish (3 1/2" dia.) marked "B & M Sterling 761".Any info, value?

Answer
Mary Ellen,

1964 is the most common date 90% silver half there is -- its value will be only for the silver it contains -- currently about $5.00

As for the dish, most likely it will only be worth the value of the 92.5% Sterling silver it contains.

You can get a close estimate by weighing the whole thing in TROY ounces (or grams, which equals 31.1 grams per Troy ounce).  Take the number of Troy ounces, multiply by .925 to convert to Sterling, then multiply by the current silver price (approx. $13.25).  This will give you a close estimate of its value.

You can monitor the current silver price online at www.kitco.com

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
