Question
I have a Danbury coin.  I found the exact same coin but made by danbury mint instead of Franklin mint.  Wanting to know value.

Answer
Hi Debra,

I doubt this item will sell, but this does give you an idea of retail pricing.  The actual liquid value is the medals gold value.  Your gold medal is .585 gold (14K).  Find the weight in grams and divide by 31.1 X .585 and this will give the pure gold weight in grams.  Then take that number X $925 (or what ever gold is going for on a particular day, per ounce) and that will equal its melt value.  You can expect to get 90% of its melt value from a dealer.  Check with friend or relatives who might be willing to pay more before liquidating.

For Example:  If you item weight is 6 grams (6/31.1X.585=.1128). .1128X925=$104.34.  The liquid value would be $104.34X90%=$93.91.  I do not know the exact weight of your item, so you will need to find out.  I hope this helps!  Thanks for the question.

Please remember to never clean coins, this can damage and lessen their value.  Also, soft plastics can contain harmful chemicals that can react with coins over time.  Try using inert materials when storing coins.  Plus, it is always a good idea to store coins in a safe.  The safe should not be exposed to the elements and should not be up against a wall to the outside.  These are just a few tips I have learned over the years to help keep your collection in top shape.
