Coin and Paper Money Collecting/misstamped US quarter

Question
I have a 1997 US quarter, Montana.
It is missing its nickle clad on the face - copper shows.
What might it be worth to a collector?

Answer
Hi Larry,

Is the front of the coins struck with the design?  I am trying to determine if the clad layer was there before it was struck or not.

If it is a delamination, that is different than if the clad layer was missing to begin with.
A coin with the missing layer before being struck would be more valuable than a delamination error.  I have seen them trade for about $100 depending upon the market.
