Question
What is the best method for storing Uncirculated and Proof coins to prevent changes in the appearance of those coins over time, in particular silver, but not limited specifically?

Hi Frank,

The best storage I have found is Kointain holders.  They will fit in Dansco albums if you buy blank pages that are 1 mm larger in diameter larger then whatever coin you are trying to fit.  Store the album in a safe located in towards the inner portion of the house (away from any outside walls).  Then buy they typical air inhibitors and place in the safe.  On expensive coins you might consider certification by PCGS or NGC.  At the end of the day here are no guarantees when it comes to chemical reactions to an environment.  

Please remember to never clean coins, this can damage and lessen their value.  Also, soft plastics can contain harmful chemicals that can react with coins over time.  Try using inert materials when storing coins (Kointains).  Plus, it is always a good idea to store coins in a safe.  These are just a few tips I have learned over the years to help keep your collection in top shape.
