Question
I have the opp'y to buy 3 coins.  $1,800 each, they are.
[2] 2007 EAGLE P$100 EARLY RELEASES MS 70's (Platinum Eagles) 1 oz. each  and [1] 2006 EAGLE FIRST STRIKES MS 70 both NGC, and ser #'s 1532072-035 for the 1str strike, and for the early releases 1557855-024 & -025

Just looking to see if my pricing is correct.  seems top dollar, but I am a beginning collector and have no clue except what the seller tells me.

Thank you in advance

Answer
Brian,

You would definitely be paying top dollar for them -- with platinum in the $1100 or so range.

While they are graded MS-70, an NGC MS-70 is easier to get than a PCGS MS-70, and so does not command as great of a premium.

MS-70 grades are definitely speculators' grades -- MS-69 grades are only trading in the $1200 range.

If platinum were stable, I'd say your downside would only be a couple hundred dollars per coin.  If platinum goes up, your upside could be alot.

Recent Heritage Auction Prices Realized indicate prices in that range (when you include their buyer's premiums) :

$1800 does not seem unreasonable, but you should try to get another $100 knocked off each coin if you buy them all.

Good Luck!

Dan

I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
