Question
Hello,
We are just starting to inventory our coin collection, so that we can post it properly online etc...but have gotten stuck trying to figure out the worth of 2 'Return To Monticello' nickles. They are a set, encased as a 'collector's version'.. and would really appreciate your help! :)We do not know how to tell if they have a 'Satin Finish' or not..it's a bit confusing.
Here's the poop:
2006-D, 5C & 2006-P, 5C; both are ICG- MS67, RETURN TO MONTICELLO, Both say 'FIRST DAY OF ISSUE' AND ICG CERTIFIED #1964 OF 19,913.
Also, could you please tell us if there is a difference between 'FIRST DAY OF ISSUE AND'FIRST STRIKE'?
It's a very extensive and ecclectic collection..and we would be glad to tell you more about it if you are interested! :)It is truly fascinating!
Thanks so much
Yours with love, light and laughter

Answer
Hi Rachelle,
If the coin were a satin, it would be noted on the ICG holder.

First day of issue and first strike can be synonymous.  There is some cloudiness to what really is first strike.  Usually that means coins that were struck in the first 30 days.  First day of issue means that the coins were from a batch that was released on the first day.
