Coin and Paper Money Collecting/What is a numismatist

Question
What qualifies a person as and how does one become a Professional Nnumismatist?

Answer
Hello Byron,
A numismatist is a person who studies, and is knowledgable about coins.
Actaully, anyone can be a "professional" numismatist.  That merely means that they do it for a living.
However, experience is very important when choosing a numismatist to work with.  I have been a professional for 31 years, and that was based on 13 years of collecting.
Normally, someone looking to get into the field would work for a professional, almost as an apprentice to learn the trade.  Once they are confident with their skills, they can hang out their own shingle and start their own business.
