Question
My husband's aunt is visiting from Mexico and she brought with her about 30 silver dollar coins that were given to her.  In that collection she has 2 coins from 1921.  She was wondering if these coins would be worth anything and where or to who she could sell them to?  I know that the value depends on the condition of the coins, so where can we look or how can we find out? Would a bank buy the coins or is it better to sell them to a collector? Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!

Hi Christina,

If you can reply with years and Mint Marks I can help with values.  The Mint Mark can be found on the reverse of the coins.  Look for an "S" or an "O" and you will find the placement of the Mint Mark.  Some coins will not have a Mint Mark.  We buy and sell Morgan and Peace Dollars all day long.

Please remember to never clean coins, this can damage and lessen their value.  Also, soft plastics can contain harmful chemicals that can react with coins over time.  Try using inert materials when storing coins.  Plus, it is always a good idea to store coins in a safe.  The safe should not be exposed to the elements and should not be up against a wall to the outside.  These are just a few tips I have learned over the years to help keep your collection in top shape.
