Coin and Paper Money Collecting/gold dollar coin

Question
QUESTION: i just found in my grandfather's stuff (he just passed) a gold dollar coin with an indian woman on it on front, date 2000 with a "p" and on back an eagle. My grandmother insists it is from a different set of coins that were made and it is rare because of the eagle's feathers? I have no idea what she is talking about. My grandfather told her this and he collected stamps/coins.

ANSWER: Hi Cheryl,
There were a couple of varieties in the 2000-P Sacagawea Dollar Coins.  Some of them are quite valuable.
I would need more info on the coin to place a value on it.  This may be one of the coins that came in Cheerios boxes when they were first minted.  In that case it is worth a couple of hundred dollars in mint condition.

QUESTION: So would you recommend I take it to a dealer to authenticate which version it is? Is there a way I can determine? What am I looking for. My grandma said something about the feathers, but I have nothing to compare too. So either version is worth about 200.00?

ANSWER: Hi Cheryl,
If you can take some good pictures of the coin and email me, I will see what I can find out for you.

QUESTION: Thank you. I will try to get a good focused shot of front and back, I've tried to compare to online photos of the differences between cheerios and the others but just not sure what I'm looking for in the feathers. Also, he left me about 10 morgan's? Is that what their called? Most of them are 1840-O to 1889, some have no mint but a few have a "CC" and some have "S". I figured CC was Carson City, S is SF, but not sure what "O" is. They are all sealed in mint condition. I think I want to hang on to them and maybe get my grandson started on a collection. Thoughts?

Answer
Hi Cheryl,
O would denote New Orleans.  Morgans were minted from 1878 to 1921, so those before that 1878 date would either be Trade Dollars or Seated Liberty Dollars.
Depending upon what the dates are and the conditions, determines the value and if they are worth holding onto or selling and using the proceeds to acquire coins with more potential to appreciate.
If you list the dates for me, I can give you a value range.  From there, we can refine it by condition.
