About Dan Moore Expertise My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library,
and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just
about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current
price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So,
with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value
any U.S. coin you have.
Experience I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.

Question My father-in-law has been buying these sets for our children since 1993. I'm looking at one from 1997. It looks like he may have paid $8 for the set. It includes 2 each of the Lincoln cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter and Kennedy Half Dollar, plus a mint mark piece from both the Philadelphia and Denver mints. Could you please let me know what these are worth? Will they ever gain considerable value? What makes these collectable other than their "new" condition?
Thank you!
Answer Victoria,
The value of these sets depends on demand for them (which generally declines over the years) and available supply (which is usually prettymuch readily available for any year). So generally speaking, the value of these sets will slowly decline over the years, with a few exceptions.
