Question I have a 1996 quarter that is missing the 19 portion of the 1996.I have been told by a few local dealers it may be worth something

If it's been altered, it won't have any added value.
But if it was cased by a foreign substance (like machine grease) in the die preventing the full strike of the coin, it will be worth a few dollars. However, collector interest is low, so it may be difficult finding an interested buyer.
Determinig which you have would require first-hand examination.
