Coin and Paper Money Collecting/New Hampshire Quarter

Question
I found a quarter today at work its not in terrible condition but not mint by any means. The washington half looks normal but the new hampshire half is smooth except for the very center. I was wondering if this was a known issue or if this coin has any value.

Answer
Hi Phil,
This can happen in a number of ways.
Certainly the possibility of a poor strike is one option however, the weakness of detail would be evident on both sides of the coin because both sides are struck simultaneously.
More likely is that the coin was tooled or damaged in a counting machine after it left the mint.
I know of no reason why this coin would be worth more than face value.
