Coin and Paper Money Collecting/gold coin values

Question
is there a web site or other contact where i can find out the real value of some old gold coins that were left to me?

i don't know if what I'm finding is reliable.

Answer
Cathy, there are pricelists available at newsstores and the red book "A Guide Book of United States Coins" but those are always just a bit out of date.  Many coin dealers use the Coin Dealer Newsletter, but that is available only by subscription.  Oftentimes, you can get a decent idea by going to www.ebay.com and doing searches for similar items.  That will often show similar items for sale and you can see what prices are asked (by the seller) and what prices are bid (by the buyers).  Jim Lawniczak
