Question
How can you tell the difference between a 1975 Dime no S? Philadelphia did a lot of No S dimes that year? Im asking how can you tell if its a 1975 no S dime From San Fran Miss print of a Philly dime?

Answer

PROOF10c
Hello Len,

There were only proof dimes produced at the San Francisco Mint
Proof dimes have a different finish on the design.
The flat background is mirror finish and the raised devices in the image are frosted.

This is known as a CAMEO FINISH and is on all San Francisco proof coins since 1968.

A business strike finish is used for the circulation coins made at Philadelphia. It looks like new coins do fresh from the bank with a duller matte finish.

I hope this information helps.

Good Luck
