Question

Scanned Copy of coin
Hello, I have a Gold coin from the Netherlands dated 1897 10 Guilders 1897 of Wilhemina. There is a raised imprint "copy" next to the date. Is the coin genuine, or a jewelers' copy (only what I could find on the net)? Is it still of the same value as the original coin?

Answer
Hi Mark,
It is most likely a replica used for identification purposes by banks and bullion dealers.  The fact that it says "COPY" on it would denote that it is not a genuine piece nor would it be gold, probably gold plated.

CommentThankyou Joe. That has answered my question well and given me a lead in following up on a dealer who possibly swapped the coin while appraising it. Thanks again.
