Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Value of Iranian Pahlavi Gold Coins

Question
I have about 18 gold coins from Iran - "Pahlavis".  In researching the value of these, I noticed that not only is the weight important, but also the year it was minted and the condition of the coins.  I have someone interested in purchasing these coins, but each one has a different date, some of them dating back to the 1940's.  Can you help me in determining value for selling or direct me to the right place where I can obtain this information?  The buyer wants to pay me for the gold by weight, but I explained that some of these are really old and are probably worth more.  I have 17 small, about 1.5 cm in diameter, probably 1/8 oz. and I have 1 coin that is nearly 2 cm in diameter, with a weight of 1/4 oz.  Any advice or insight would be truly appreciated!  Many thanks. Nazie

Answer
Hi Nazie,

In all of my 30 years trading gold coins, I have never seen a Pahlavi trade for more than gold value.

Expect to get about 95% of the gold value for them.  Bear in mind that they are NOT pure gold, they are 90% pure.

I hope this has helped you.
