I have a series 1917 one dollar bill that was given to me and I would like to find out how to have it appraised and what dollar range might it be worth

Hi Ben,

Without seeing the note it is impossible to give an appraisal on it.  I can tell you from experience and seeing many 1917 $1 bills that the average is between $20 to $100 depending on condition.  If your note has any pin holes, hold the note up to a light and look through the note - pin holes are very tiny and can be seen by using this technique, the note will be worth between $20 and $70.  Folds, creases, stains, and tears will greatly affect the price.  I hope this helps!   

Please remember to never clean coins or paper money, this can damage and lessen their value.  Also, soft plastics can contain harmful chemicals that can react with coins and/or notes over time.  Try using inert materials when storing these items.  Plus, it is always a good idea to store valuables in a safe.  The safe should not be exposed to the elements and should not be up against a wall to the outside.  These are just a few tips I have learned over the years to help keep your collection in top shape.
