Question
Hello! I have a few coins interested in finding out more about. I have a silver penny wheat back , 1940's I believe.  I have a half dollar 1957 liberty bell on the back I'm pretty sure franklin is on the front.  I have a one dollar coin that says "E Plurbibus Unum 1921 with a person with a liberty crown head on the front. On the back  it a bird and leaves. Just found  them going through some old coins. I have a lot of one dollars and a lot of fifty cent pieces. Just curious if they are rare or just old.

Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi Sarah,

Here is your breakdown.  The cent is from 1943.  It is made of steel and zinc coated and is worth about 5 cents.  The Half Dollar is a Ben Franklin Half Dollar worth $3 to $5 depending on the price of Silver.  Your third coin is a 1921 Morgan Silver dollar worth $12 to $14 depending again on the price of Silver.  Currently, Silver is around $13 per ounce.  You might want to reply back with your other Silver Dollar dates - you might get lucky.  Also, reply back with any Half Dollars that are dated before 1939.  Thanks!! Troy

Please remember to never clean coins, this can damage and lessen their value.  Also, soft plastics can contain harmful chemicals that can react with coins over time.  Try using inert materials when storing coins.  Plus, it is always a good idea to store coins in a safe.  The safe should not be exposed to the elements and should not be up against a wall to the outside.  These are just a few tips I have learned over the years to help keep your collection in top shape.
