I have penny that seems to have been imprinted off-center.  It has only half of Lincoln's face.  The other side is off center too.  It is about the size of a regular penny, but the imprinting machine missed the center of the coin.

Hi Judy,
That is what is known as an "off-center cent", your description was right on.
Not a rare occurence.  These are normally culled from the bins before they leave the mint but some do slip by.
They sell for $2-3 each on eBay.
