Question
I read this nickel sold for over 4 million in a goverment book, I think it was a 1913 maybe,I have the same nickel with the date 1891,I was wondering if it is of any value? I have 5 nickles in a collection pack. Buffalo, jefferson 2002,lewis and clark 2004,war time jefferson 1945 and the liberty head is in the collection,is there any value to them? THANK YOU

Answer
Rhonda,

There were only 6 of the 1913 nickels minted, which is why they are so valuable.

There were millions of the 1891 nickels minted, making them worth about a dollar in good condition.

In average condition, the buffalo is worth about 50 cents, and the 1945 Jefferson is worth about 30 cents, making the whole set worth about $2.00

Sorry, no retirement money there.

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
