Coin and Paper Money Collecting/thick dime

Question
Hello,
I have a 1994 dime (P) with a thick ridge around the perimeter. About double thickness of an ordinary dime. Also it's smooth edged and copper color. Looks like a strike error. I've never seen this before. Any info?? Thanx
-Steve

Answer
Hi Steve,
It is a legitimate mint error.  I believe the term used to describe it is a "railroad rim" because it looks like a wheel from a railroad car.
I suggest you check eBay for railroad rim coins for a current value.
Good Luck
