Question
I wanted to find out the best way to go about selling this bag of pennies I inherited from my husbands fathers coin collection.  It is a heavy canvas bag stitched closed and is stamped on the outside US Mint Philadelphia $50 1976 Pennies Do Not Cut I believe there is some other verbiage on the outside of the bag.  Any idea what I could expect to get from this bag of pennies?  I looked them up in the Red Book and it indicated that penny in particular was valued at .25, is that correct?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Annette,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I was travelling on business with no internet available.
You probably will not find a buyer at 25 cents per coin, more like 3-4 cents to be honest with you.
These do trade hands on eBay.  I personally have handled MANY bags of pennies, the problem is the weight and shipping of them.
I would think if you can get $150 for the bag, take it.  This was not a year known for erros so there is no point in thinking you may be "giving something away".
