Question
I have a french 1829 1 franc coin  mintmark A  on the front it has Charles X ROI DE FRANCE
is it worth anything thanks

Answer
Hi again Jed,
This is a fairly low mintage coin, with only 290,000 made at the Paris (A) mint. It does have collector value, which is a good thing since the silver value is only a couple of dollars. A well used coin without damage starts at $10 and goes up as high as $150 for a very nice and sharp coin.
Thanks again for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
