Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Mis-stamped Proof

Question
QUESTION: I recently bought a proof 70 1/2 ounce gold Krugerrand.  The coin looks like it turned when it was pressed as the Springbok is at an angle to the rest of the coins and the details of the grasses and the Springbok are smudged.  Being a proof I am not sure if this means I have a really rare find or should be asking for a refund.

ANSWER: Hi Darryl,
It sounds like you may have an error that will potentially add value to the coin. If you can take a clear photo and add it to a follow-up question I can give you a lot more information.
Thanks for the question! =)

QUESTION: The back of the coin with the springbok stamped at an angle.  The front of the coins are identical.  Trying to look at the grass and there appears to have a potential decrease in the detail of the coin.

Answer
Hi again Darryl,
The alignment of one of the coin seems to be off by about 20 degress or so. This is not uncommon for coins in general, though it is less common for gold coins and proofs which are held to a higher standard.
If your coin came up at a good error-coin auction, you can expect 10% to 15% above normal book value.
Nice find, thanks again! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
