Question
My coin has oriental letters on the front  with a big one on it. One date is 2006 and 2003. on the back it has a flower on it and reads ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG. I dont know if its worth anything but its worth a try. Can you help?

Answer
Hi Amber,
You've got a pair of Chinese 1 yuan coins. The Yuan is China's version of the dollar, however the current exchange rates would value 1 yuan to about 15 cents US. Being that these are legal currency, there is not much collector demand. If you have a nice and shiny mint condition coin, a collector will pay a dollar or two.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
