QUESTION: thanks Dmitry,   how would i go about getting my coins graded so i could consign them   thanks for all your help  david

ANSWER: Hey David,
The major grading companies (NGC, PCGS and ANACS) have web sites where you can locate a local member who will help you send them in. This process takes a couple weeks and there is a fee for each coin.
As a general rule, if you have something that is worth thousands it's always good to have it authenticated/graded. This is also true for certain coins where the prices for a true uncirculated coin are many times that of the grade below.
However, if selling coins worth a couple hundred or less and if you are doing it through a reputable dealer with a good reputation, there is no need to even bother spending time and money for grading the coins.
Coins that have been cleaned or have a scratch or other damage will be returned as ungradeable or with a "details" grade. This would make the grading process pointless for such a coin.
Thanks again. =)

QUESTION: thanks  let me Know how to hook up with you as i would like to consign most of these coins it doesnt appear i have coins worth thousands although there may be a couple  thanks again david

Answer
Hi David,
You can always contact a seller near you via the eBay trading assistant web page.
This may also be a good time to start your own little side business, as world and US coins are hot on the market. It doesn't take much to get started, especially if you already have an eBay account.
Thanks again.

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
